CONTINUITY:
THE PROPOSAL AIMS TO ENSURE MAXIMUM CONTINUITY OF THE NORTHERN SIDEWALK ALONG BOTH AVINGUDA DELS ALPS AND CARRETERA DE L’HOSPITALET, WITH THE GOAL OF ENHANCING PEDESTRIAN SPACE, GREENERY, AND THE BIKE LANE.
– AN ASYMMETRICAL ROAD SECTION IS PRIORITIZED, WITH NO PARKING ON THE NORTHERN SIDE, TO ALLOW FOR UNINTERRUPTED TREE PLANTING AND BIKE LANE CONTINUITY.
– PEDESTRIAN SURFACES ARE PRIORITIZED OVER VEHICULAR LANES THROUGH THE USE OF RAISED CROSSINGS WITH INVERTED PRIORITY.

TRAFFIC CALMING:
THE PROJECT PROPOSES LARGE TRAFFIC-CALMED BLOCKS WITH INTERIOR PASSAGES WHERE PEDESTRIANS HAVE PRIORITY AND VEHICLES MOVE AT LOW SPEEDS (20 KM/H).
– STREETS ARE RECLASSIFIED, TURNING CARRER CAN ROSES AND PASSATGE DELS ALPS INTO PEDESTRIAN-PRIORITY PASSAGES.
– A ONE-WAY SYSTEM IS PROPOSED FOR PASSATGE DELS ALPS TO SIMPLIFY TURNING MOVEMENTS. CARRER CAN ROSES IS PROPOSED AS A DEAD-END PASSAGE, THUS SIMPLIFYING THE ROUNDABOUT AREA.

PHASING
THE INTERVENTION IS PLANNED IN DIFFERENT PHASES BY SEGMENTS, DEMONSTRATING THAT THE PROPOSALS CAN BE IMPLEMENTED EITHER FULLY OR PARTIALLY DEPENDING ON AVAILABLE FUNDING OR EVOLVING CIRCUMSTANCES.

ECONOMY
THE USE OF SIMPLE, DURABLE, AND AESTHETICALLY COHERENT MATERIALS IS PROPOSED, IN LINE WITH THOSE USED IN THE FIRST PHASE OF AVINGUDA DELS ALPS.
– CONCRETE PAVING SLABS ARE PROPOSED TO PROVIDE URBAN CHARACTER THROUGH A NOBLE, ATTRACTIVE, AND COST-EFFECTIVE MATERIAL.
– GRANITE CURBS ARE PROPOSED FOR THEIR DURABILITY, GRACEFUL AGING, AND CONTRIBUTION TO THE OVERALL URBAN QUALITY OF THE INTERVENTION.
